What you are Seeing: 1. a very nice dice laboratory with an excellent security camera system.
2. Biased dice being used in this video. Notice the faces occurring during these 2 streaks are all on one plane -- the 1, 2 and 6s. This is what happens with biased dice more often than not (see more discussion at Link --> Biased Dice ... ) The 3s and 4s end up as the axles and disappear all too often when the 5 and 6 are heavier due to the heavier resin used in the white pips (dots).
3. Furthermore, the stated odds by the author on YouTube are for balanced dice, and therefore not correct for this set of dice:
This is a short spurt where I got aces twice in a row followed by 6-2 five times in a row. ... Rolling the same non-pair 4 times in a row after the initial roll is a 1 in 104,976 occurrence .. any initial non pair is a 5/6 chance making the total 1 in 125,971.
4. Less than 2 minutes from hundreds of hours of video - sure if you toss the dice hundreds of hours at home on your practice table, almost anything can and will occur .... we are only seeing a snippet here as the author notes on DiceInstitute.com:
"The security camera system runs for every single toss on the table."
What you are NOT Seeing: 1. No proof that he is using fair balanced dice
2. No proof how old the dice are - most dice are only used for approximately 500 tosses or 8 hours (except Caesars LV) for a reason - they tend to become biased after then on their own .... so is it any doubt that a string of numbers is easier to obtain after many hours of use.
My trip to Vegas from October 22 to October 29 was a roller coaster of fun, misery
and interesting circumstances.
Let’s get the advantage-play over with first. I won…a little. I had been up
quite a bit in craps through Sunday, October 25. I shot four times, won on
three of those rolls (one a big one) and thought I was in for a great week
ahead after the GTC dice control class ended. Dom
was hot; so was Stickman and Skinny. It was good. I was good. The Five Horsemen were riding high. It was all good.
Then nasty reality struck.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of October 26, 27 and 28 saw me plummet into
craps hell. I took the dice 18 times; won on four rolls, double-pitched as if
the dice were satanically calling to me, “Seven out, Scobe, seven out fast and
make a fool of yourself!” Oh, I did; I did.
On Monday evening, Dominator had a 39 roll, and
then fell flat on two more hands. That was fine as his 39 had been number after
number – a typical great Dominator hand. We made money, nice money on that
roll. I took the dice three times as well. The first two times, well, “sucked”
is too kind a word to describe my shooting.
There was a young man in the proverbial baseball cap standing near the dealer
on the end of the left side of the table. He wasn’t betting; he was just
watching. I didn’t know him; he wasn’t a student of GTC; just some baseballed
capped kid watching the Five Horsemen essentially stink up the craps table. He
had not been at the table to see Dom’s 39 roll.
After my second disastrous roll, the capped one said, “Hey, Frank, based on an
analysis of your dice, I would recommend using the V2 set.” Obviously while I
didn’t know him; he knew me. I couldn’t believe he just shouted this across the
table at me. Also, I had shot two Point/Seven Outs. How the hell could anyone
analyze anything on such a short sample? And it’s 2V; not V2.
Now the dealers and box person all knew us and they would cheer when we hit
numbers because 1.) we tip and 2.) we are nice guys to deal to and with. They
were also surprised that this capped kid shouted his recommendations across the
table.
I ignored him.
Not Dominator, he moved back from the table, looked at the kid and said, “What
the fuck!” I don’t think the capped kid heard him. Then Dom took the dice and
quickly sevened out.
Then the dice went around the table – Skinny, Nick-at-Night, Stickman and me
sevening out quickly – then Dominator got the dice. Dom sevened out quickly
too. And then it happened.
The capped kid said, “Dom, let me give you some advice about your shooting.”
Dom looked at him, his face totally surprised. “I can help you shoot better. I
see the flaws in your shot.”
Now, Dom will take advice from shooters he respects; we all will. But who was
this capped one to give the Dominator advice? The box person rolled his eyes
and looked at me and shook his head as if to say, “This kid is an idiot!”
Dom – his face red and the veins on his head pulsating – shot a devastating
hate-look at the capped one and screamed: “Shut the fuck up! If I want your
advice I’ll ask for it! Who the fuck are you?”
Dom took his cane and I thought for sure the capped one was about to be anally
violated. Thankfully, Stickman stepped between Dom and the capped one who,
white as a ghost, ran away from the table as fast as his legs could carry him.
We colored up and went to get some gelato.
Craps was a no-win proposition after that. While some of the Horsemen had good
rolls; we just couldn’t get enough of them to get ahead and our short rolls
tended to be losers as well (winning short rolls are even more important than
those occasional monster rolls).
However, we played our advantage-brand of Pai Gow poker, which allowed us to
overcome our overall poor performance at craps.
A small win is better than no win. Plus we got everything for free at the
casino so our expenses were nil.
The GTC class weekend was fun as usual. Great new students; great refresher and
advanced students. Old friends; new acquaintances; good stuff.
I did have some troubles during the weekend. For the week before and during
(and even now as I write this), I have been sick. First it was fever and
chills; then aches and fever and chills; then logginess; then diarrhea; then
laryngitis. Different symptoms on different days.
Usually I am funny during the “Meet and Greet” but this night was a real
struggle trying to emcee the event. It wasn’t that I couldn’t come up with
funny lines; it was just I couldn’t say them right. You see, I was about to
(ladies, you might not want to read further) have diarrhea – yes, right there
on stage. If I used my usual energy, I knew I would explode all over the place
since my stomach muscles tighten as I explode with mirth. But I didn’t want to
explode with mirth and smelly muck as well! So I had to hold it all back while
I tried to finish my introductions and strained funny comments.
I could feel the hideous stuff building up too. It was waiting, bubbling just
behind my sphincter longing to come ripping out and embarrassing me forever in
the eyes of my students.
When I finished, I leaped off the stage, launched myself into the elevator and
made it to my room. I made it…just made it, thank you God…and did what I needed
to do in a wild explosion of horror. It was Hiroshima on the toilet.
After the attack, I thought I was okay to go to our GTC instructors’ pizza
party, which we always hold after the “Meet and Greet.” I went down to pool
side and grabbed some slices. But the inner monster started gurgling again, and
again I could feel the buildup of an imminent atomic explosion.
I got up and ran like a lightning bolt to the elevator. But this time I was
stalled by the night of the living dead.
Four elderly people were ambling slowly down the hall to the elevator. A fifth
one was holding the elevator doors open. The five of them probably had a
combined age of a thousand years. All had hearing aids. Two were using walkers.
They must have been using the walkers for decades – they were rusty.
I was now in the elevator with the woman who was holding the doors open. I was
holding out my pizza plate and holding in my bowels.
“They are very slow,” croaked the woman holding the elevator doors. “You want
to eat your pizza, right? Hurry up down there,” she squeaked to her colleagues.
“There’s a young man who wants to eat his pizza.”
“Yeah,” I said. I could hardly talk. It was on the edge. Now, the first of the
living dead entered the elevator.
“Oh, pizza,” she said. “I love pizza.”
After seven-hundred fifty years the other three made it to the elevator.
“What floor are we on?” asked the only man, a mummy with a hearing aid as big
as his head.
“I don’t know,” said one of the women. My God, I thought, there are only three
floors in the whole damn hotel! They weren’t on the first obviously, which is
where we were in the stinking elevator, so there were only two floors left!
“Why don’t we just press the other two buttons and you can figure it out as we
go up,” I strained.
“Good idea, young man, good idea,” said mummy-man. And up we went.
I was on the second floor and I rushed out of the elevator. “My, my,” said one
of the women. “You must really want to eat that pizza!”
I made it to the bathroom and in a Nagasaki-like explosion, I finished my
horrible “Meet and Greet and Gush” evening.
Tuesday evening, I was in the high-roller-room
bathroom, standing over the bowl happily peeing. These bathrooms are single
toilet ones. No urinal; just a toilet; all very elegant in amenities but one
person at a time.
A woman walked in. There I was with Godzilla in
my hands (Godzilla is the name of my you-know-what) spewing his fiery essence
into the bowl. (Sometimes I call Godzilla Goliath.)
“What are you doing in here?” she yelled.
Godzilla stopped in mid-flow…and shrunk to the size of a raisin.
“This is the men’s room,” I said, trying to hide my pin-sized mini-monster.
“You should have locked the door!” she screamed at me, and stormed out of the
bathroom.
Oh, there’s more…but I have to get back to working on my third book for Triumph
Books now.
It was a fun but a sometimes tough week this trip. But I did make it home with
a win. And that’s what counts.
Now is my accounting of the SAME evening that
can be verified by 2 other witnesses:
I get a call from a local GTCer mentioning
that the GTC gang leaders Frank Scoblete and the Dominator (Dominic Loriggio -
‘The Dominator’ ) would be shooting over at Bellagio ..... watching them shoot was fun and frightful at the same time as they each lost $$ as they ended with more PSOs than rolls over 10 ... so bad that even the "Captain's 5
Count" wasn't paying off as Frank S. had to throw in $300. to pay off his
marker .......
I had been mentally (no pad and pen) charting the Bellagio tables with a couple of other players when we noticed that the GTC gang of 5 had taken an empty table on the back row so we moved over to their table and bought in before they even started to toss ..... each GTCer was either using the hardways or V3 and each was coming up with the same result => short rolls with a 5-2 or 6-1 Seven-out
the 3 GTC instructors were at SL1
......... Frank S. tossed 1st using the V3, but quickly Sevened-Out with a 5-2
......... these dice were so biased to the 5 & 6 that it was almost
impossible to keep both 3s on axis (on the night I only saw Frank S. make
1 point as each of his rolls were very short)
next at SL2 was the tall lanky GTC instuctor Jim Stickman ("Stickman" according to the GTC website:
"Tall and lean, relaxed and contained, the Stickman has a gentle touch and strong concentration. He is a master of visualization and in the use of the "hardway" dice set.") .... he set the Hardways and had
another short roll of about 4 ...... no world famous GTC instructor was being able to bet on the other GTC instructors since they were all doing a 5 count on
each other ... their lousy shooting with the terribly Biased dice was validating the Captain's "5 count" strategy
The dice then came to Dominator at SL3ish (according to the GTC website:
"The nickname for one of the greatest and most fiery dice-controllers
of all time; Dominator plays several days a week in the casinos around
the country. Graduated with degrees in both biology and math, Dominator
knows his way around the numbers and around a craps table."
as GTC instructors Frank S. and Jim "Stickman" scooted back out of his way
to allow him closer to the Stick, Dom set the V2 & took advantage of these "Outside" Biased dice to near perfection as he starting banging out 4s and 10s mixed in with a few 6-2 Eights ...... the
Dominator hobbled his way on his broken foot to 3 Points and a 20+ roll
I continued mentally charting the dice and watching Frank S and the rest of the GTC gang leaders have short rolls until I tongue-in-cheek, but seriously mentioned to Frank
Scoblete before his next roll:
"Frank - based on the way your dice are reacting on this table this
evening, you may want to consider using a V2"
Frank did not respond, but the Dominator let out a loud burst in disgust:
"OH JESUS CHRIST !!"
...... I had to chuckle a little as I knew I had just
given a little Biased dice and shooting advice to the world's # 1 best selling craps author
and even though they did not say it out loud, I could hear Frank S. and the Dom loudly thinking "Who the Hell is this guy giving us advise -- does
he know who we are!!"
I just smiled as the dice came to Frank S ... he set the All-7s set with the 3/4 up instead of a 6/1 up and 5/2 facing on a 4/3 axis to take advantage of the biased dice ....... his 1st toss was a 6, then he bets $60 each on the 6 & 8 and sets the V3 as he glances over towards me
....... Frank S. then proceeds to toss a perfect 5-2 PSO
GTC instructor Jim Stickman passes the dice after several short rolls as he has had
enough trying to toss ........ so Dom hobbles up to the table from his chair ....... at this point, the Dominator is determined to show me that the V2 is not the right set to use as I had suggested to Frank S.
so he sets the V3 even though he had been doing well (well, better than
anyone else on the table) with the V2 ..... he was determined to show me I was wrong.
Frank S. cheers out loud:
"Come on Dom !!"
Quick result was a PSO - 6-1 Seven-Out using the V3 ...... at this
point I just shook my head and said:
"I am just saying guys .... "
Dom quickly snaps back at me "I don't need any FVCKING advise from you
!!" as he grabbed his walking cane .........
Frank S. and the rest of the GTC instructors then colored up as each reached into their
pockets to grab numerous Ben Franklins to pay off their markers.
..... even the "best" are still in denial ........
We have identified casinos that are methodically using unbalanced Biased Dice to increase their house advantage at craps. Over the past 2 years, we have assembled a Biased Dice Research Team which includes over a dozen dice detectives with professional resumes that include:
- a double PhD tenured Math professor;
- a NASA aerospace scientist;
- a retired plastics engineer;
- a mechanical engineer;
- an electrical engineer;
- 2 finance majors;
- a CPA;
- a computer geek;
- and 4 craps players that live and play in Las Vegas almost every day of the year
(collectively we have 8 regulation size craps tables).
Casinos and gaming commissions do not see using unbalanced dice as an illegal act, but simply changing the odds in the same fashion as 6:5 Black Jack --- Giving the house more favorable odds with 6:5 BJ. As noted somewhere,
"You may have noticed the disturbing proliferation of 6:5 Blackjack in Las Vegas. ... Let us be very clear; 6:5 Blackjack is not Blackjack at all"
YET, people still play BJ in Las Vegas -- the change had very little measurable effect on the attendance at the BJ tables and no casinos were threatened with losing their license.
Casinos count on the casual player in a whirlwind visit to the casino not recognizing which days biased dice are used. Those of us that play more than 300 days a year see the difference.
We have come to the conclusion that most casinos are using unbalanced dice to alter the odds MORE to their favor ..... this is easy to prove to yourself. Loaded dice or weighted dice will be heavier on one side. The extra weight may be something very heavy like lead, gold or platinum so it only takes a small amount to change the odds. The weight is often placed nearer one corner or edge rather than at the center of one face. Transparent dice do not prevent loading because the actual spots can contain the weight. Check if the spots are deeper on some sides than others, although this is no guarantee because a well made gaffed dice will look straight and even.
Pictured above is all you need to verify balance -- a dice balancing caliper. You can clamp a die into the caliper and give it a spin. If the die always stop at the same position, there is a problem with the balance.
Once our Biased Dice Research Team had verifiable tangible proof that the Las Vegas casinos were cheating, we decided that it was time to blow the whistle. That is when we ran into a bureaucratic circus similar to what Father of the Underwear Bomber ran into when he was trying to report his son's Christmas day attack to the CIA.
First we had a member of our Biased Dice Research Team contact the Las Vegas FBI where we were told by a female agent that they referred all casino related problems to the Nevada Gaming Commission. When we told the FBI agent that we felt that the Nevada Gaming Commission was part of the overall problem and that was like "letting the fox guard the hen house" they simply responded with a
"Well, we are short staffed and only have enough agents to concentrate on gangs and drugs that are entering from Mexico."
So, we then decided to talk to the head Fox in charge of the Hen Houses by sending the following letter to the Nevada Gaming Control Board:

We would like to congratulate you for your Informational Seminars and your efforts to keep Las Vegas casinos a first class operation parallel to no other destination in the world.
We are responding to your July 21st letter as an interested party because we do not want everyone’s favorite vacation site to turn into a ghost town due to corporate financial pressures and greed that have literally ruined other corporate giants like Enron, Arthur Andersen, WorldCom, Barings Bank, Wall Street Investment Bankers and Mortgage brokers.
Issue: Las Vegas Casinos are systematically using biased dice in an effort to cheat their customers and increase profits. Furthermore, the down economy has tempted most casinos to use the biased dice more often to manage cash flow and guarantee fewer losses.
Various Nevada casinos are systematically using biased dice to influence the outcome of a random game. These unfair dice are mostly used every weekend, holidays and especially when marketing promotions have targeted high rollers into the casino.
Objective: To create a legal atmosphere in Nevada (specific dice statutes similar to those in Colorado, New Jersey and Australia) whereas fair dice are used 24/7 and enforced by the Nevada Gaming Commission.
A few organizations realize what is being done. This has been verified by the proper use of a dice balancing caliper. I believe this should be handled “internally” and at a state level before the media obtains this information. We do not want a public perception that Nevada is cheating at a game of chance or even more of the tourists will not play the games when they visit.
I would like to meet with you in person to illustrate the aforementioned concern, preferably in private before this issue is added as a topic in your Informational Seminars.
Until we meet, below is a brief summary of the issues that led to this statement by Cy Ryan in the October 12, 2008 Casino News (Carson City, NV):
Casino win on Strip declines 8th straight month
“For the eighth consecutive month, winnings at Strip casinos declined.
The state Gaming Control Board reported today that the win at the 41 casinos on the Strip totaled $494 million, down 7.43 percent from a year ago. Statewide, casinos posted an 8.1 percent decline.
… The $934.1 million was the lowest winnings month since June 2006, …
The positive signs were in craps with winnings increased by 59.4 percent and the sports pools inched up 0.7 percent. Winnings in the 21 games dropped 13.1 percent; roulette was off 4.8 percent; and keno fell 23 percent."
The craps winnings were abnormally out of place compared to the rest of the industry and it is our belief that this is happening due to the use of unfair dice. As you mention in your July 21st letter, “… there are a number of other areas where regulatory concerns have surfaced. Either through lack of knowledge or apathy, licensees are creating regulatory challenges in areas requiring corrective action.”
Unfortunately the financial pressures of the current economy coupled with the statutory risk to reward ratio encourages cheating by the casinos. The risk of ever getting caught using Biased Dice is very minimal and even if the casino is caught, the $10,000 penalty of maybe getting caught once a year is well worth the $100,000 plus each casino protects every day biased dice are used.
The penalties for cheating in Nevada are outdated and only discourage cheating by patrons while the lack of enforcement actually encourages corporate greed on a much larger scale (by comparison you will be fined $16,000 for making one pre-recorded solicitation phone call):
NRS 465.088 Penalties for violation of NRS 465.070 to 465.085, inclusive.
1. A person who violates any provision of NRS 465.070 to 465.085, inclusive, is guilty of a category B felony and shall be punished:
(a) For the first offense, by imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 6 years, or by a fine of not more than $10,000, or by both fine and imprisonment.
(b) For a second or subsequent violation of any of these provisions, by imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 6 years, and may be further punished by a fine of not more than $10,000. The court shall not suspend a sentence of imprisonment imposed pursuant to this paragraph, or grant probation to the person convicted.
2. A person who attempts, or two or more persons who conspire, to violate any provision of NRS 465.070 to 465.085, inclusive, each is guilty of a category B felony and shall be punished by imposing the penalty provided in subsection 1 for the completed crime, whether or not he personally played any gambling game or used any prohibited device.
(Added to NRS by 1981, 1292; A 1985, 970; 1995, 1295)
According to the Nevada Gaming Commission, there are no Dice technical specifications or requirements in Nevada. However, there are very valid reasons New Jersey enacted very specific Dice Regulations over 30 years ago. For some reason these New Jersey dice specifications were amended just over 2 years ago to allow more tolerance, coincidently about the same time biased dice were introduced into the casinos. Colorado adopted the same dice laws as New Jersey earlier this year when they initially allowed craps into the state:
47.1-1280 DICE; PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
(1) BE FORMED IN THE SHAPE OF A PERFECT CUBE AND OF A SIZE NO SMALLER THAN 0.750 OF AN INCH ON EACH SIDE NOR ANY LARGER THAN 0.775 OF AN INCH ON EACH SIDE;
(2) BE TRANSPARENT AND MADE EXCLUSIVELY OF CELLULOSE EXCEPT FOR THE SPOTS, NAME OR TRADE NAME OF THE CASINO LICENSEE AND SERIAL NUMBER OR LETTERS CONTAINED THEREON;
(3) HAVE THE SURFACE OF EACH OF ITS SIDES PERFECTLY FLAT AND THE SPOTS CONTAINED IN EACH SIDE PERFECTLY FLUSH WITH THE AREA SURROUNDING THEM;
(4) HAVE ALL EDGES AND CORNERS PERFECTLY SQUARE AND FORMING PERFECT 90 DEGREE ANGLES;
(5) HAVE THE TEXTURE AND FINISH OF EACH SIDE EXACTLY IDENTICAL TO THE TEXTURE AND FINISH OF ALL OTHER SIDES;
(6) HAVE ITS WEIGHT EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE CUBE AND NO SIDE OF THE CUBE HEAVIER OR LIGHTER THAN ANY OTHER SIDE OF THE CUBE;
(7) HAVE ITS SIX SIDES BEARING WHITE CIRCULAR SPOTS FROM ONE TO SIX RESPECTIVELY WITH THE DIAMETER OF EACH SPOT EQUAL TO THE DIAMETER OF EVERY OTHER SPOT ON THE DIE;
(8) HAVE SPOTS ARRANGED SO THAT THE SIDE CONTAINING ONE SPOT IS DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE SIDE CONTAINING SIX SPOTS, THE SIDE CONTAINING TWO SPOTS IS DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE SIDE CONTAINING FIVE SPOTS AND THE SIDE CONTAINING THREE SPOTS IS DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE SIDE CONTAINING FOUR SPOTS; EACH SPOT SHALL BE PLACED ON THE DIE BY DRILLING INTO THE SURFACE OF THE CUBE AND FILLING THE DRILLED OUT PORTION WITH A COMPOUND WHICH IS EQUAL IN WEIGHT TO THE WEIGHT OF THE CELLULOSE DRILLED OUT AND WHICH FORMS A PERMANENT BOND WITH THE CELLULOSE CUBE, AND SHALL EXTEND INTO THE CUBE EXACTLY THE SAME DISTANCE AS EVERY OTHER SPOT EXTENDS INTO THE CUBE TO AN ACCURACY TOLERANCE OF .0004 OF AN INCH; AND
(9) HAVE IMPRINTED OR IMPRESSED THEREON THE NAME OR TRADE NAME OF THE CASINO LICENSEE IN WHICH THE DIE IS BEING USED, AND A UNIQUE SERIALIZED NUMBER.
However, Colorado in its infinite wisdom decided to expand the New Jersey laws by giving them teeth:
47.1-1281 DICE; RECEIPT; STORAGE; INSPECTIONS AND REMOVAL FROM USE …
(4) … (A) PRIOR TO USE IN A GAME, THE MANAGER ON DUTY OR PIT SUPERVISOR SHALL INSPECT THE DICE WITH A MICROMETER, BALANCING CALIPER, A STEEL SET SQUARE AND A MAGNET OR ANY OTHER INSTRUMENT APPROVED BY THE DIVISION. A BALANCING CALIPER, A STEEL SET SQUARE AND A MAGNET, SHALL BE KEPT IN A COMPARTMENT AT EACH CRAPS TABLE OR PIT STAND AND SHALL BE AT ALL TIMES READILY AVAILABLE FOR USE BY THE DIVISION UPON REQUEST. … (5) THE LICENSEE SHALL REMOVE ANY DICE FROM USE ANY TIME THERE IS ANY INDICATION OF TAMPERING, FLAWS OR OTHER DEFECTS THAT MIGHT AFFECT THE INTEGRITY OR FAIRNESS OF THE GAME, OR AT THE REQUEST OF THE DIVISION.
We have interviewed 6 different Las Vegas casino floor supervisors that admit they are in charge of measuring the dice and each has admitted that they do not use a dice balancing caliper to measure the dice. Additionally, we have interviewed the chief operator of a dice company that supplies dice to several Las Vegas casinos and he admitted that he does not have a dice balancing caliper in his entire dice factory and boasted that he did not need one since his dice were near perfect. He immediately grabbed a stick of dice from his production, measured them with a micrometer to show how near perfect they were then put them on our dice balancing caliper only to be shocked that they were extremely out of balance. He went on to defend himself by stating that there were no dice regulations in Nevada that required him to produce balanced dice.
Basically, the use of unbalanced biased dice “Alters the normal criteria of random selection, … which determines the outcome of a game” (NRS 465.085) and gives advantage to the casinos. John Scarne addresses this advantage to the casinos in his book Scarne on Dice.

..... and after several email exchanges, our Team member asks if the NSGCB Senior Agent could bring a dice balancing caliper, and below is his response to our associate -- note the investigative tone in the queries -- suddenly the messenger becomes a possible suspect if he answers the questions in a certain way:

After the 3 hour meeting with the Nevada Gaming Commisiion, we interviewed our Biased Dice Research Teammember that participated. His conclusion was that Nevada State Gaming Control Board is paid for by Casino gross gaming revenues and therefore knows exactly who they must protect -- the Casinos. Thus the proverbial Fox guarding the Hen House. Basic summary notes from the meeting:
NSGCB Agent was more interested in who the messenger was instead of possible crimes being committed by the Casinos,
Wanted to know if our messenger was a member of GTC (Golden Touch Craps group associated with Frank Scoblete),
NSGCB Agent explained in so many words that their duties were to protect the casinos from Casino staff and patrons from stealing casino revenues.
Agent gave a 15 minute presentation on how shaved dice would not alter the odds of craps. We then tried to tell him that we were not talking about shaved dice, but unbalanced dice. Agent seemed to have trouble understanding the difference between shaved dice and unbalanced dice;
NSGCB Agent wanted to know when and where Biased dice would be used -- we gave him days and times that 6 casinos would normally use unbalanced dice and he promised to audit their dice;
Agent said he would be available to audit dice from any Nevada casino within 30 minutes of receiving a call if we suspected Biased dice. An auditor would arrive at the casino and give the Pit Supervisor a 5 minute warning that he would be confiscating the dice from the table, thus allowing the Casino a chance to get a new stick of dice so as not to interfere with operations;
We presented our unbalanced dice evidence from 6 casinos -- showing how the standard dice balancing caliper (pictured above) clearly proved that live casino dice were unbalanced and being used to change the odds;
Then the Auditor explained how he would conduct the audit upon arriving at the casino -- he would first put the dice in a micrometer --- he demonstrated with our bad dice. He showed us how the dice were almost perfectly square -- again we had no argument with his findings. Then he pulled out his 50 year old all metal dice balancing caliper that weighed nearly 5 pounds and proceeded to spin the unbalanced dice --- the result was that the official NSGCB dice balancing equipment DID NOT WORK.
The State "Caliper" cups that held the dice were too deep so that the points of the dice could not touch the end of the cup, thereby forcing the 4 sides of the plastic dice near that point to rub against the metal cup. Therefore, the metal cup would act like a brake against the 4 sides of the dice and prematurely stop the dice from freely spinning to a stop. In effect gravity would not work on the official Nevada state caliper in much the same way gravity does not work on a car going down hill if one applies brakes to the wheels, thus stopping the car from freely going to where gravity would take it.
When we asked if the state had a newer or better caliper, the Agent answered that "the state only had 2 official calipers -- one in the Reno and one in Las Vegas and they were both exactly the same except that one was painted red and the other green." The Agent then went on to explain that the state had no intention of getting new calipers -- that this was the official one to be used in all court proceedings.
It was clear the state had no intention of getting the answer right. Even after we explained what was wrong with his caliper. Therefore calling a Nevada State Enforcement Agent to verify if casino dice are balanced is a waste of time.
Well, maybe we should do as God does .... or at least take the advise of an insider:
If taxpayers only knew just how shady the (Wall Street) markets have become, they would pull all their money out before you could say, “Let Me Know When It’s All Cleaned Up- And Only Then Will I Even Think Of Ever Investing Again.” Makes for a great T-shirt, don’t it?
I mean, who wants to play craps with loaded dice? It’s that simple. The only thing that separates Wall Street from gambling in Vegas in the first place, is that in Vegas, you are mostly at the mercy of luck. In the stock market, an investor armed with sufficient research and savvy is supposed to be able to have far more control over his “luck”, in predicting a stock will go the right way. Else, he would go to Vegas, put his money down - 50/50 - and pray.
Now, manipulation issues place Wall Street investing further and further into the Vegas gambling camp. So, a smart investor would simply say, “Well, if that’s the case, I’d rather go to Vegas - at least the food is better.”
For all those that doubt casinos would ever cheat, consider the words of a casino industry insider Bill Zender, former Nevada Gaming Control Agent and Director of Casino Operations at the Aladdin and author of How to Detect Casino Cheating at Blackjack. In his summation, Zender again emphasizes that cheating by casinos is rare, but not out of the question:
"In 1979 I joined the Nevada Gaming Control Board as an agent with their Enforcement Division. During my period with the board I learn quite a lot about card, dice, and slot cheating, as well as internal thefts and major scams. I also got involved in giving game protection seminars for many of the law enforcement agency in Nevada and throughout the western United States. At one point I was assigned to survey all the casinos in the rural areas of Nevada and to make sure they weren't taking unfair advantage of the public. In doing so I prepared myself by going over the files of all cow county casinos from the period starting in the 1960's through 1979. In those files I read about the different casinos that had been closed over the years for cheating the customers, what the investigations had found, and what the Gaming Board had done to prevent it from happening again. I also got to inspect and analysis numerous cheating device that had been seized from both casinos and cheater. The education I receive from my time with the NGCB was invaluable."
That was last century -- this century, the Nevada casinos in conjunction with the NGCB are increasing the house edge by using unbalanced dice as a countermeasure against Craps Advantage Players. The attitude of Nevada Gaming Control Board is that the assets of the state (and their salaries) must be protected from Craps Advantage Players. Until just a few years ago, you could walk into a Las Vegas casino and see the dice being balanced in the pit. In this century however, you will maybe see only 1 (Sahara) of the 30+ casinos in the Las Vegas area with craps tables utilize a dice balancing caliper -- just for show, because even they do not use the caliper correctly.
In fact you can take an unbalanced dice and spin it on different points and it will look like it is balanced to the untrained eye.

For all those in denial (the "Flat Earth Society") saying that casinos as a whole would not cheat, look how rampant the cheating was in New York right under everyone's noses:
" ... a recent story about New York cabbies overcharging their customers has set off a firestorm of buzz. The initial story broke last week, when it was revealed that thousands of cabbies in the Big Apple had overcharged their customers by a total of $8.3 million over several years.
The news sparked immediate Web searches on "new york cab ripoffs" and "taxi scams" as well as lookups for the Taxi and Limousine Commission. The Commission found that dishonest cab drivers were charging customers the "suburban rate," which is twice the "city rate." All told, 35,558 cab drivers "illegally charged a rider at least once." That's out of 48,300 licensed drivers.
Not a very good percentage. (almost 75%)
So, how was the scam discovered? It all started with one guy who was suspicious of his fare. Dr. Mitchell Lee, who often takes taxis home after working at the NYU Medical Center, says he noticed his normal $5 fare had mysteriously risen to $7 one night. He complained to the driver, who offered Lee a discount. Lee declined, paid the full fare with his credit card, then complained to the Taxi and Limousine Commission. From that one complaint, a gigantic scam was quickly unraveled." **
...... the same is so for casinos -- if 1 casino figures out how to increase the odds at Craps, then others will be sure to follow ......... it's a simple law of competition
What set, if any, do YOU use for subsequent come-out rolls after the first one?
Remember, there is no right answer on how to approach the game so you have to figure out what is best for you. For me, by my 2nd Point hopefully I have figured out how the dice are reacting to my toss: -- am I double pitching or single pitching or one off axis, etc., and -- is there a chance I am playing with unbalanced dice so that the Odds have increased for the House on this particular table.
Depending on the answer to those 2 issues, you then calculate whether you play "The Game Within a Game" or set for your signature number so that you can capitalize on repeating the Point.
If I am tossing with heavily unbalanced dice, nearly 40% of my winnings are on playing "The Game Within a Game" Come-out tosses so I will set my dice to the set that are most favored by the imbalance in the dice combined with how I have been tossing so far ...... single pitch or off axis, etc. ..... (this is where it helps to be able to do BoneTracker calculations live during your toss instead of back at your practice rig after the fact ....... hard to capitalize on "after the fact" results)
..... Let's say you have been seeing an abnormal amount of 5/2 Seven-outs before you tossed and your tosses have resulted in several 5's showing up on at least one of your die results, coupled with the fact that the Hard 6s and Hard 8s are scarce that day compared to Hard 10s and Hard 4s, so I would set an All 7's set with 5/2 on top on a 3/4 axis ..... if I am single pitching a lot that day on that table, then I would adjust the All 7's set by taking the right die and turning it half way around so that the 4s are kissing, then single pitch the same right die forward so that I now have a 5/6 on top and 6/5 facing me.
Considering the fallacy in the following March, 2008 interview:
... Jane Willis (a math whiz on MIT's celebrated blackjack team) and her husband, Rich Davey, attended the star-studded Las Vegas premiere of "21." They enjoyed the movie and afterward strolled through the casinos, occasionally pausing to play a little blackjack.
"I'd say there was a little rust on Jane's skills," says Davey. "She was more interested in craps, but unfortunately there's no way to count dice."
The fact is that when the casinos employ unbalanced Biased dice to increase their house edge, you must be ready to "count the dice" or you may very well be blind-sided at the craps table.
side note FWIW -- most of my longest rolls are from straight out using fair dice, however, if a table is using Biased dice, gravity overpowers any influence I may have from that far away .... as Clint Eastwood warned us in Magnum Force:"A Man Has Got To Know His Limitations"
